“To assist a child we must provide him with an environment which will enable him to develop freely.” – Maria Montessori

My name is Leeandrea Oliver, and I received my undergrad at Hollins University majoring in English and Psychology. I loved the school so much that I stayed to complete the M.A.T program with a licensure in K- 6th education.

Student and I after 5th grade concert

As a teacher, my aim is to implement a student-based philosophy that teaches empathy, builds on students’ individual strengths, and encourages students to seek out leadership opportunities. I was allowed to experiment and build on this philosophy while student teaching at Glen Cove Elementary in 5th grade.

Hopefully through this e-Portfolio, you will get to know more about my teaching style thus far!
